Fall 2020 in St. Augustine

Plan Your Vacation This Autumn to the Historic Coast of Florida

Fall is one of the best times of the year to visit St. Augustine. Since the crowds of summer travelers have dwindled, the nation’s Oldest City is a bit more quiet and calm. The weather begins to cool off, and outdoor activities become a much more enjoyable thing to do here. During the fall, it’s hot enough to enjoy the beach and other outdoor activities, but it isn't the peak of summer heat.

Labor Day Weekend

Take advantage of the 3-day weekend to spend some time relaxing at the beach. Labor Day weekend this year is Saturday, September 5 to Monday, September 7, 2020. Visit the pristine Anastasia State Park, a 1,600-acre state park where you can go hiking, canoeing, kayaking, and more. Labor Day is also a great time to stop at some of the many historic sites in St. Augustine such as the Lightner Museum, Bridge of Lions, and the Cathedral Basilica St. Augustine

Trolley Tours

Trolley Tours are a super easy and popular way to see the top St. Augustine attractions and easily get around town. During fall, you don’t have to wait in line as long, meaning you get to spend more time exploring. Choose from 1-day or 2-day ticket passes, which allow you to hop on and off at 22 Old Town Trolley stops throughout town. You can also go on themed tours like Ghosts & Gravestones and other special experiences.

Museums & Historic Sites

As the Nation’s Oldest City, St. Augustine is home to many historic sites and museums documenting the region’s past. While these tourist attractions can be busy during peak season, they are great to visit in the fall when things begin to slow down.

Fall Flowers in Bloom

While northern cities begin to see leaves changing and falling to the ground, St. Augustine watches bright flowers throughout the city bloom. Visit the Washington Oaks Garden, Lightner Museum, and George Street to view the region's native tropical plants.

Surfing

September is one of the best times of the year in St. Augustine to go surfing. Go north of Blowhole, "The Middles," Vilano Beach, and Flager Beach Fishing Pier for the best swells in the region.

Fishing

Fishing is great in St. Augustine all year-round, and the start of fall means the start of oyster season. Plus, you'll be able to find redfish, Blackdrum, Sheephead, and more.
